Lecture Performance, 45 min
production for Bauhaus Festival, Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, 2021
Anni Albers? No, other than the title suggests, this lecture performance is not on one of the most famous protagonists of the Bauhaus weaving workshop, but on the textile designer Otti Berger. And how does the figure of the feline come into the image? Throughout the performance, Judith Raum interweaves photographs of fabrics that have never been on public display as well as other archival materials by Berger with a narration of her practice as designer. Berger tried to establish herself during National Socialism in Germany. With ropes and strings, Raum gradually alters the space, allowing images, facts and materials to mutually merge and influence each other and making the audience a part in the process.
