The Contemporary Arts Library Pristina/Berlin

The Contemporary Arts Library Pristina/Berlin is a growing collection of resources
on contemporary art and art theory with its own library and project space in Pristina,
Kosovo, as well as an ongoing participatory project where I organise seminars and
presenations at diverse locations in collaboration with local artists.
The library’s stock in Pristina currently entails 12.000 resources, among them books,
magazines and artists’ films. The resources are donated by artists, curators, art institutions and publishing houses in Europe and beyond. Lately, the focus of collecting has been on the art scenes in Kosovo’s neighbouring regions.
Projects realised in or by the Contemporary Arts Library aim at a critical discussion of the resources and the artistic and curatorial positions they imply, conscious of the conditions of the local contexts they come from. Perspectives, aesthetic canons and evaluations from the cultures we currently live in do not necessarily apply to the artistic working conditions in other local contexts, a question that we try to reflect through personal experience.
The Contemporary Arts Library as a functioning library in Pristina is today organised
independently by Fiore Isufi and Altin Etemi, artists, Pristina.
